PARAEDUCATOR:  Coordinates activities or performs specialized duties to assist in providing instruction to and supervision of students in a variety of instructional and non-instructional programs.

 

REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 72 college quarter credits from a nationally accredited institution OR pass ETS test required.

 

Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
2. Always punctual.
3. Must be accurate and efficient at completing tasks on time without constant/direct supervision.
4. Ability to relate in a positive manner with students, parents, and staff/teachers, supervisory staff.
5. Must be able to work effectively with small groups or individual students under the supervision of certificated staff.
6. Ability to accurately keep records and manage a physical inventory.
7. Ability to learn and operate library management software (e.g., Destiny, Follett, or similar catalog systems).

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Library Management: Manages the library circulation desk; checks books in and out to students and staff using the automated catalog system.
• Collection Maintenance: Maintains the organization of the library collection (shelving, mending, and inventory) to ensure materials are accessible to students and staff.
• Instructional Support: Meets with scheduled classes or small groups of students in the library to facilitate book check-outs, model library etiquette, read aloud and prepare activities for students.
• Student Supervision: Oversees and supervises students during library visits, classroom activities, on campus/play fields, and on field trips.
• Classroom Assistance: Assists instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials; tutors students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning activities.
• Testing & Records: Monitors and assists in administration of student testing; maintains accurate records of student progress and library usage statistics.
• Technology: Operates and assists students with a variety of instructional media, office machines, and computer-based learning tools.
• Environment: Maintains a safe, welcoming, and appropriate learning environment in both the classroom and the library.

 

 

 

This position is 6.5 hours per day.  180 days per school year.
