Bus Driver needed for the 2026-2027 School Year

The Almira School District is seeking a dedicated, safety-conscious individual to join our transportation team. As a school bus driver, you are the first and last smiling face our students see each school day. Responsibilities
- Safe Transportation: Operate a school bus over designated routes to transport students to and from school, field trips, and athletic events in all weather conditions.
- Vehicle Inspection: Perform required daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections (checking fluids, tires, brakes, and lights) to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Student Management: Maintain order and discipline among student passengers; enforce district policies to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Washington State traffic laws and OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) regulations regarding school bus operations.
- Maintenance: Keep the bus clean (sweeping, window cleaning) and refueled; report any mechanical malfunctions to the Transportation Supervisor immediately.
- Emergency Response: Administer basic first aid as needed and lead emergency bus evacuation drills.
Qualifications
- Age/Experience: Must be at least 21 years of age and have held a valid driver’s license for at least five (5) years.
- Licensing: Possess (or have the ability to obtain) a valid Washington State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with:
- Passenger (P) Endorsement
- School Bus (S) Endorsement
- Air Brake restriction removed
- Certifications: Must have a current Washington State School Bus Driver’s Authorization and a valid First Aid/CPR card (training can be provided).
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no more than three speeding tickets in the last five years and no disqualifying criminal history (per RCW 43.43.830).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a DOT physical and a school bus driver physical agility test. Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings (including cannabis, per federal DOT regulations).
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
